The King legend began in 1893 when Henderson N. White crafted his first instruments for Thomas King, a professional trombonist from Cleveland, Ohio, for whom the instruments were named. Other artists like the world-renowned Dizzy Gillespie as well as Pierre Dutot and Rolf Holly are on King instruments.

Compared with the higher priced trumpets, the student range trumpetrquote s pistons are made with slightly looser tolerances, which should al low for greater freedom of movement, as long as they are regularly and properly cleaned. The looser fitting valves, combined with a two- piece construction of the bell create an adequate tone production while keeping the price down, but the sound and feel will never equal that of a professional trumpet One would expect a student line trumpet to be of an appropriate standard for 2-3 years. It may be suitable throughout secondary school study, but by the third or fourth year, a player will feel very limited by these trumpets.
For older beginners, consideration should be given to an intermediate level trumpet, which we sell for upwards of $2,000. Some intermediate trumpets have added features, such as a valve slide thumb hook or trigger, sliver plating and adjustable 3 valve slide stops, which improve durability and tuning. Also seen on some intermediate trumpets are Monel Pistons for smoother action and improved durability.
